Dan DiCecca, Founder

Hi! I’m Dan!

You may be asking, “Why OD MSP?” And that’s a good question…

See… our family is in the Eye Care industry in one way or another, and we have been helping Independent Eye Care Professionals like you for over 30+ years!

My father-in-law, Clarke Lauffer, started as a frame rep with Baluster in the late 80s. When he moved back to Pittsburgh in the early ’90s, he joined BEITLER McKee as a lab rep and worked with them until retirement. He missed the industry so much that after two years of retiring, he came back as an independent sales rep with SD Eyewear and Etnia Barcelona.

My Uncle Danny, Dan Alexander, was a Sales Rep with Maui Jim for fourteen years, and now he is a Sales Rep with Charmant.

My sister-in-law, Melanie Harhai, started in the industry as a frame rep with Aspex Eyewear and then FGXI. She moved to the lad side with Hoya and is now with ZEISS Vision Care.

And then there is my wonderful and beautiful wife, Jessica DiCecca, who started in the industry as a Sales Rep with ClearVision Optical, and is now the Territory Sales Consultant with EssilorLuxottica/Ray-Ban in the Pittsburgh market.

And me? Well… I’ve always loved computers and technology. Some of my earliest memories are of me messing around with the family’s TRS-80 (if you’re too young or too cool to know, that’s a really old computer, and it was the first one my family owned).

As the years went by, the computers got more sophisticated, and my obsession grew. Any free time I had was spent either using a computer or learning about them. By age 11, I had already built my very first computer, and there were many more to come.

When the internet became commonplace, my interest in IT deepened. The world opened to me, and I loved “all things IT.” You could say a career in IT was an obvious choice for me.

After studying at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, I realized that my true passion was still in IT. However, art has always been by my side, and I started my career as a Graphic Designer after receiving all my certifications from Adobe. I began working as an IT consultant, but after a few years, I moved on to work at a popular University in New Hampshire as a System Administrator and Webmaster. When I moved to Pennsylvania in 2008, I worked as a Government Contractor. I really enjoyed that job… Problem-solving, creative solutions, and seeing the difference I was making to the companies I worked with. It was very rewarding.

From there, I had the pleasure of working with and being the Director of Software Development with one of the world’s largest certified garment decorators and fulfillment centers. There, I was able to work with most of the major sports leagues, such as the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL, and some of the largest brands in apparel, like Nike, New Balance, Reebok, Puma, Addidas, Under Armour, and more!

But while I loved my job and the people I worked with, I found I was becoming frustrated with the way that the public (and private sectors) did things. I soon found out that the customers didn’t always come first. It wasn’t part of the role to help our customers grow and improve. The customer wasn’t at the heart of everything that was being done. And to me, it was clear that profit was way more important than people, and that seemed wrong. After all, their success would be our success.

One day, after talking with my father-in-law, something just clicked inside of me. He kept mentioning to me that Independent Eye Care Providers like you were getting raked over the coals by almost every technology vendor they came across (not to mention the insurance companies). The more we talked, the more I realized I needed to take action. I had all the tools and skills necessary to make a difference, a positive impact, and help Independent ECPs just like you. I can help you sift through all the technological noise and frustration, so you can focus on what you do best… providing the best care for your patients and growing your practice.

In 2019, I took the leap of faith and established OD MSP, and I have never looked back. Since then, we have grown in exactly the way I hoped for. We have an amazing team that provides the attention and quality service that your practice deserves, and I can be proud of. We get to work with Independent Eye Care Professionals just like you and have the privilege of being their trusted IT Support and Digital Marketing partner.

Our mission is simple – invest in each and every practice we work with, celebrating their success as if it were our own. Because really, it is.

And as for me? Knowing that we have played a part in helping each practice we work with be successful at what [they] do is the greatest reward. I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Why gamble with your technology investment?

“I’m exhausted by IT systems that underperform and frustrated with costly and restricted solutions that do not grow with my business. The ongoing practice of providing quick fixes for long-term issues is becoming tiresome. What I truly desire is a scalable solution that eliminates IT complications. Technology should be a helpful tool, not a burden. Additionally, I am seeking a team of trustworthy experts who can guide me along the way. I’m eager to explore IT services tailored specifically for independent eye care professionals.”

Great idea! Let's work towards providing exceptional IT services specifically tailored for your independent eye care practice.
